CONGREGATIONAL CARE

The work of the benevolence ministry is to help people in need by offering both physical and spiritual assistance. This work is sustained through your generous giving so that the gospel is shared, food and shelter are paid for (as the money is available), and God is glorified. Thank you so much to all who give to this ministry. The need is great. Please consider, after your tithe, giving to the benevolence fund. Jesus said, “And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased!’ (Heb. 13: 16).

Benevolence is not a budget item so normally we take an offering after the Lord’s Supper. You can also give online by selecting “Benevolence Fund” or give by writing a check with “Benevolence” on the memo line or on the outside of the envelope. You can mail the check, bring it by the office, or put it in the offering boxes on Sunday. Your kindness is greatly appreciated.

We have some wonderful volunteers who help with meals for those who have lost loved ones, but we need more volunteers to assist in serving at the
bereavement meals. We also need volunteers who will make homemade desserts for these meals. These acts are tangible ways to express our love and care for those who are grieving. Please email Beth Carlson if you would like to volunteer.

We are looking for volunteers to help single moms, widows, seniors, and others with odd jobs around their home or yard. Your talent in this area can be used to touch lives and minister to those who need a helping hand. If you have some handyman skills or a can-do attitude and would like to serve in this ministry, please let us know.

We are also looking for volunteers to take the sick or elderly to the doctor and for essential trips to the grocery store or pharmacy as needed. If you would like to volunteer for either of these ministries of helping, email Tom McClendon, Minister of Congregational Care.

If you know of Lakeview family members or attendees who need a visit, please call the church office as soon as possible at 334-887-7094. Our visitation is done by the wonderful body of believers here at Lakeview including pastors, Sunday school teachers, lay leaders and trained chaplains. If you would be willing to serve as a visitation volunteer, please email Tom McClendon, Minister of Congregational Care.

We are seeking people who are led to join in a ministry of prayer and care for Lakeview’s military and their families. If you have a heart to serve Lakeview’s military community, please contact Vernon Allison. Our military ministry will be a place for both civilians and military families to join for prayer, encouragement, and support of our military members and families.

If you are military or the family of a military member, we would be honored to assist you. If you are deploying or your spouse or family member is deployed, please contact us so we can support and maintain contact with you.

Our desire is to encourage shut-ins in nursing homes and assisted living  facilities with God’s Word and happy-hearted “songs, hymns, and spiritual songs” (Eph. 5:19).
