Dr. Brian Payne

Pastor

READ BIO

Pastor Brian joined the staff of Lakeview in June of 2021 to become our pastor. He is originally from Enterprise, Alabama, and attended the University of Alabama where he played football for four years, and served as a Graduate Assistant Coach for two years. Brian also received his Master of Divinity degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary as well as his Master of Theology and Doctor of Philosophy.

Before coming on staff at Lakeview, Brian pastored in Lebanon, Ohio, First Baptist Church of Fisherville, Kentucky, and was on the faculty of Boyce College and Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.

He and his wife, Heather, have been married since 1999 and they have five children: Ella, Nate, Seth, Ava, and Seefen.

Cliff Knight

Associate Pastor | Minister to Families

READ BIO

Cliff came to Auburn as a student in 1979 and has been on Lakeview’s staff since 1981. Originally from Slocomb, Alabama, he graduated from Auburn with a degree in Education in 1983 and has a Masters of Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary of Louisville, Kentucky. After serving as Lakeview’s Youth and Evangelism Minister from 1981 to 1991, Cliff was the College Pastor until February 2008 when he began his new role as the Family Ministries pastor.

He is married to Toma of Auburn and they have reared five children; Becky, Ben (deceased 2017), Whit, Ansley, and Clay.

Jerry Ferguson

Associate Pastor | Minister to Internationals

Jerry officially joined the Lakeview staff in January of 2017; however, he has been active in adult Sunday school, the fellowship of deacons, and the internationals ministry, along with being involved in numerous other ministries throughout the church since joining in 1981.

Jerry is originally from Bynum, Alabama. He has a B.S, degree from Jacksonville State University, and studied Child Care administration at the University of Oklahoma and the University of North Carolina.

Jerry has been married to Karen since June 1966 and they have two children, Scott and SiSi, and seven grandchildren. They have a love for people and a great desire to see the nations come to know Jesus.

Tom McClendon

Associate Pastor | Minister of Congregational Care

READ BIO

Before coming to Lakeview in November 2019, Tom served as a pastor for 24 years. Originally from Ozark, Alabama, Tom was born again in May 1975 in the basement of a fraternity house while attending Auburn University.

He was in business for 10 years before being called into the ministry. Tom earned his Master of Divinity from Bethel Theological Seminary in St. Paul, MN and his Doctor of Ministry from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. Tom’s heart is to see believers become Word-saturated and to know the joy of the Christ-empowered life.

He and his wife, Betty, have been married since 1984 and have 4 children and 6 grandchildren.

Adam Traylor

Associate Pastor: Minister of Music

Adam Traylor has been on staff at Lakeview since January 2017. Originally from Valley, Alabama, Adam received his undergraduate degree from LaGrange College in church music and his Master’s Degree from Liberty University in worship leadership. He was ordained into the Gospel ministry in 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Eufaula where he served as music minister for 11 years.

Adam has a deep desire to see God’s family come together in worship with an overflowing desire of praise to God not only through music but through the daily walk of a believer.

He and his wife, Teel, have been married since December 2004 and have three children: Sadie, AJ, and Michael.

Kevin Webb

Associate Pastor: Minister to Students

Kevin Webb has served on staff at Lakeview since June 2017. Originally from Piedmont, AL, Kevin received his undergraduate degree in history from Auburn University in 2002. During those years, Kevin was a member at Lakeview and very active in the college ministry. He also began his seminary education and training for ministry at Lakeview as a seminary intern, graduating in 2005 with a M. Div. from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. After continuing his theological education in Louisville, KY, he and his wife moved back to Alabama to serve for 7 years as the pastor of East Tallassee Baptist Church in Tallassee, AL.

Kevin has a passion for discipleship and teaching, and is grateful to work with college students to help them grow in the faith as he did during his days as a college student at Lakeview.

He and his wife, Laura, have four children: Andrew, Samuel, Hannah, and Timothy.

Jim Wilkerson

Associate Pastor: Minister of Administration

Jim joined Lakeview’s staff in January 2018. A native of Canton, Mississippi, Jim graduated from Ole Miss in 1979 with a degree in Business Administration. For 38 years he served in numerous management and executive capacities with companies such as BellSouth, AT&T, Health Information Designs, and HDI Solutions in Mississippi and Alabama.

Most recently, Jim served as President of HDI Solutions, directing its overall efforts in providing software development and data management products and services to state government agencies across the nation. He seeks to provide godly leadership in the church’s personnel, finance, facilities, and food service ministries.

Jim and his wife, Cindy, have been married since August 1981 and they have one adult daughter, Allie.

Aaron Wine

Associate Pastor: Minister to Youth

As of 2017, Aaron has served on staff at Lakeview. From 2014-2017, Aaron served as one of Lakeview’s Seminary Interns. Through the course of the program, Aaron embraced Lakeview as home. He has a passion for the gospel, theology, and discipleship.

Aaron and his wife, Whitlee, are from Wetumpka, Alabama. Aaron received a Bachelor’s in Communication from Troy University and a Master’s of Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary

Aaron wants to see teenagers and their families love Jesus more deeply and follow his Word more faithfully.

Aaron and Whitlee, have been married since 2013. They live in Auburn with their son, Abe, and their Australian Shepherd, Grey.

Hal

Associate Pastor | Minister of Missions & Prayer

Hal has been our Minister of Prayer since 1996 and our Minister of Missions since 2013. Originally from Huntsville, Alabama, Hal holds an undergraduate and a Master’s degree from Auburn University (1976, 1988) and spent fifteen years coaching and teaching prior to joining Lakeview’s staff in 1992 as Minister of Youth and Evangelism.

As Minister of Prayer, Hal leads weekly Wednesday night prayer meetings and gives oversight to “The Gap”, Lakeview’s 24-hour prayer room. As Lakeview’s Minister of Missions, he oversees our “Trinity Plan” missions strategy for engaging people all around the world with the Gospel and for supporting the work of Lakeview members and other ministry partners serving the Lord oversees.

Hal is married to Jere, and they have 2 married daughters and 5 grandchildren.

Al Jackson

Pastor Emeritus

Brother Al, as the Lakeview family knows him, was Lakeview’s pastor from 1979 to 2021 and is now the Pastor Emeritus. A native of Florala, Alabama, he is a graduate of Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. He received his Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, and his Doctor of Ministry degree from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California.

Bro. Al has ministered God’s Word throughout the United States and in Asia, Europe, Latin America and Africa.

He and his wife, Kem, have been married since 1972 and have three married children and nine grandchildren.

Joan Moreman

Preschool Director

READ BIO

Joan has been Director of Lakeview’s Preschool Ministry since 1991. She is responsible for equipping teachers and workers who minister to newborns through kindergarteners. Joan is a native of Auburn and a graduate of Auburn University with a B.A. in History.

Joan and Sonny Moreman have been married since 1971. They have four children and eleven grandchildren.

Jennifer Vail

Children's Director

Jennifer previously served on Lakeview’s music ministry support staff for three years before transitioning over to Children’s Director in February 2020. Her husband, Chad, is the church pianist, and they have both been Lakeview members since 1998.  As Children’s Director, it is Jennifer’s immense joy to share the gospel and truths from God’s Word to boys and girls with the deepest desire for each of them to come to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior. She is honored to equip teachers and workers who minister to children throughout the week and in special events for children throughout the year.

She and her husband Chad have been married since 2000 and have 3 children: Marie, Claire, and Cameron.

Katie

College Women's Director

Katie began serving on the Lakeview staff in August 2022 as a recent graduate of Auburn University with a degree in Nutrition & Dietetics. Her love of serving the body of Christ deepened during her time in the Lakeview College Ministry as a student and leader in the college ministry. This, along with Scripture and the Holy Spirit, led her to become the College Women’s Director at Lakeview. Katie is overjoyed and humbled to be serving the family of faith that has loved and spurred her on in her walk with Christ and she looks forward to how the Lord will work in Lakeview’s college ministry.

Katie is also passionate about cooking, baking, language learning, overseas travel, and discipling other girls. She is looking forward to equipping girls to be faithful members of the church body & proclaimers of the Gospel.

Raxia

Youth Girls Director

Originally from the Birmingham area, Raxia has been a member of Lakeview since her days as a college student. She joined Lakeview’s staff in April 2019. Raxia earned an undergraduate degree from Auburn University and a Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

As Youth Girls Director, Raxia gives leadership and direction to the care and discipleship of our teenage girls. She is thrilled to walk alongside them in rich relationship as they grow in their knowledge and love of God and his Word. Her significant time on the mission field before college is also a great help for showing our students the value of living their lives on mission wherever they are.

Raxia is uniquely equipped and deeply committed to leading and discipling youth girls, serving for the church through counseling and care, and getting the gospel to the nations both near and far.
